Andrea's Tears
by
Shirley Lewey Scott
Hush little Andrea, let me kiss away your tears,
I will hold you gently and calm all your fears.
Did your quiet sobs that night, go unheard?
Were you in pain and too scared to utter a word?
Are you still waiting for someone to find you?
Many would try, if there was one tiny clue.
Oh, little girl that's gone, tell us where can you be,
Did you die that night or were you sold into slavery?
Are you alive and living a life worse than death?
Did you cry out for help with your very last breath?
Hush sweet little Andrea, oh please don't you cry,
Those who were to protect you, may have let you die.
